FreedomWorks PAC today endorsed Ohio State Treasurer Josh Mandel in his bid for the Republican nomination for Ohio’s U.S. Senate seat in 2018. The endorsement marks FreedomWorks PAC’s first of the 2018 cycle. Mandel is seeking to run against Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) in the 2018 mid-term election.
“Conservatives saw tremendous victories at the ballot box in the 2016 elections, but we still have to press forward and continue to elect more principled, pro-freedom candidates. Josh Mandel is a proven conservative whose leadership is needed in the Senate, and 2018 presents a perfect opportunity to send him to Washington,” said FreedomWorks PAC Chairman Adam Brandon. “We need him there to protect taxpayers, roll back regulatory overreach, and fight for limited government.”
“Sen. Sherrod Brown has proven to Ohio that he is further to the left of Bernie Sanders. The policies Sen. Brown has supported during his time in the Senate are the reason why Ohio went for Republicans in the 2016 presidential race. By electing Josh Mandel, we can send that message once again that we’ll will drain the swamp in Washington and move the country in a fiscally conservative direction,” Brandon added.
